Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Trade Name (DBA)?
A trade name, often called a DBA or “doing business as” name, is the public name a business operates under when it differs from the owner’s legal name or the registered entity name. In Arizona a trade name is registered with the Secretary of State. I prepare and organize the registration or renewal paperwork so it goes in complete and correct the first time.
Can you represent me in an eviction hearing?
No. I am a Certified Legal Document Preparer, not an attorney, so I cannot appear or speak for you in court. I can prepare the notices, complaint and related eviction paperwork at your direction and explain the general filing steps. If you want someone to argue the matter on your behalf, you will need an attorney.
What does a Certified Legal Document Preparer do?
A Certified Legal Document Preparer is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court to prepare legal documents at your direction, without the supervision of an attorney. I organize the information you give me, prepare the correct forms for your matter, review them for completeness and explain the general procedural steps for signing and filing. I cannot give legal advice, recommend a strategy or represent you in court.
How much does document preparation cost?
Document preparation is quoted as a preparation fee for the specific documents you need, and you will know that fee before any work begins. Current prices by service are listed on the pricing page. Court filing fees, service fees, postage and other third-party costs are separate and are paid to those agencies directly.
